Naturally Fermented Hawthorn Vinegar (500 ml)
Mecitefendi Hawthorn Vinegar (Alıç Sirkesi) is pressed from 100% real hawthorn berries — the small, tart red fruit of the Crataegus shrub — then left to ferment slowly, the traditional way, for around 1.5 years. No additives, no preservatives, no chemicals: only fruit, time and patience. The result is a bright, gently tart vinegar with a soft red-berry depth that mass-produced vinegar can’t reach.
Because it’s unfiltered and unpasteurised, a living “mother” may form after opening and a little natural sediment can settle at the bottom — both are signs of a living vinegar, not spoilage. Shake gently before use; store cool, out of direct sunlight.
In the kitchen it’s quietly versatile: whisk it into a vinaigrette, brighten a marinade for chicken or lamb, lift a lentil or grain salad, or stir a teaspoon into still or sparkling water for a tart, refreshing drink.
Produced by Mecitefendi in İzmir, Türkiye — a herbal-food maker since the early 1990s — in an ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 (HACCP) certified facility, in line with the Turkish Food Codex.
